SpamCop

SpamCop is a wholly owned subsidiary of IronPort Systems, Inc. Spamcop accepts spam complaints from users who sign up with its service.

SpamCop's engine scans through the email header, and detects the IP address of the originator of the spam. It may also scan through the body of the email, to detect any URLs of the spammed web sites. Next, it looks up the IP addresses where the web sites are hosted.

For each IP address detected, whether for origin of spam or spammed web site, it then looks up the email address of the ISP who owns the IP address.

SpamCop then sends the spam reports to these ISPs.

SpamCop will accept spam complaints via a web form and/or via email which contains the full headers and body of the spam. The spam to be reported must have been received within the last 48 hours in order to be reported to Spamcop.

Note: spamcop.com doesn't have anything to do with the genuine SpamCop, which is located at spamcop.net. Avoid the fake spamcop.com site.
